Karen Simon, 1931-2017
Karen Marlene Simon, 85, of LaPorte, died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2017, at LaPorte Hospital.
She was born March 4, 1931, in Michigan City, IN, to Lawrence and Hildur (Anderson) Sadenwater.
Karen loved to travel and visited 49 states. She enjoyed outdoor activities; whitewater rafting; woodcutting; swimming in Lake Michigan; spending time with her dogs, Lola and Allie; and being involved on the farm.
On Sept. 30, 1953, in Michigan City, she married Richard Simon, who survives in LaPorte. Also surviving are her beloved children, Robert (Dawn) Simon of LaPorte, Roger (Sherry) Simon of Chandler, AZ, Wendy Vance of Rolling Prairie, IN, and John (Lorie) Simon of Goshen, IN; 8 grandchildren, Jennifer and Bryce Simon, Tyler Vance, Dakota, Luke, and Sydney Simon, and Cory and Jordan Simon; and 3 great-grandchildren, Owen and Nora Vance and Alex Tilden.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, John Sadenwater.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Gathering will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, LaPorte. Cremation has taken place.
