Mass of Christian Burial for David Garcia was held Tuesday, Jan. 31 at Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Mark Mason officiating. Burial followed in the El Reno Cemetery. Services were under direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.
Mr. Garcia died Thursday, Jan. 26, 2017, at his home in El Reno at the age of 66. He was born Oct. 20, 1950, in El Reno to Pete L. and Rachel (Luna) Garcia.
David grew up in El Reno surrounded by many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. He excelled as a track and field athlete in junior high and high school and held an Oklahoma high school speed record until just recently. He graduated from El Reno High School in 1970.
He worked various construction and plumbing jobs around El Reno before working many years at El Reno High School where he enjoyed interacting and getting to know many different teachers and students. He enjoyed being a small part of their daily routine, saying hello or sharing a smile.
David was an avid sports fan, always keeping up on El Reno High School sports and watching OU football.
David was preceded in death by his father.
He is survived by his mother, Rachel Garcia, and brother, Joe Garcia and wife, Sharla, all of El Reno; sister, Carol Hernandez and husband, Raul and two nieces, Maria and Erica Hernandez, all of Oklahoma City.
