---Christopher Clare Wilkes, 67, of Bellevue, went home to be with the Lord, on Friday, April 29, 2016, following a lengthy illness. Mr. Wilkes was born in Charlotte, Michigan, on January 14, 1949, to Clare and Rhea (Marshall) Wilkes.
---Mr. Wilkes will always be remembered for his kindness to others, his tall stature, and his outgoing attitude. His unwavering help given to others will long live in the hearts of them that knew him. He was known for always being there for his family, and his mother. He was equally content to just be home. One of his favorite sayings, that his family often heard, was, "God dealt you a deck of cards, learn to play it." Friends and family would say of him, "he's an all around good Joe".
---Mr. Wilkes was the former owner of the Bellevue Root Beer stand on W. Main, in Bellevue, in the late 1970's. He was employed by the Bellevue School System until retirement. He loved to watch auto racing on Sunday afternoons, but most of all loved to be together with his family.
---Mr. Wilkes is survived by his wife, Linda; son, Landon (Amy) Wilkes; step-sons, Scott Copeland, Michael Copeland and Robert Copeland; his mother-in-law, Pat Deuel; ten grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents; and his step-son, Donald Copeland.
---A memorial service will be planned at a later date. Friends and family are encouraged to share memories of Christopher Wilkes on his tribute page at www.prayfuneral.com . The family is in the care of Pray Funeral Home.
