Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 4 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, February 3 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Galva Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Galva American Legion or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
She was born August 4, 1932 in Annawan, the daughter of James and Celia (Boyd) Thompson. She married Neil S. Johnson on February 23, 1952 in Annawan. He survives of Galva, as do four daughters, Janet Johnson (Roozbeh Tavakoli) of Selinsgrove, PA and Dawn (Doug) Anderson, Denise Johnson and Elizabeth “Libby” (Mark) Maxwell, all of Galva, four grandchildren, Ashley (Andrew) Maxwell-Willer, Allison (Nicholas) Zurcher and Ariana and Thierran Tavakoli and three sisters, Lucille McCune of Mineral and Barbara Young and Judy Hansen, both residents at Hillcrest Nursing Home in rural Geneseo. She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Dorothy, Mary, Orn, Harold, Cal and Jim.
Beth graduated from Annawan High School in 1950. She had worked for the Henry County Farm Bureau, Galva LeClaire Hotel and for 7 years at the Red Oak in Bishop Hill. She was also a waitress at Waunee Farms for 31 years. She was affiliated with Messiah Lutheran Church and enjoyed helping make their spritz cookies. She was a member of Burns Grange, the Order of the Eastern Star and belonged to the Burns Rural Youth and a card club for over 60+ years and enjoyed sewing, shopping and baking and cooking. She especially enjoyed caring for and was a proud supporter of her children and grandchildren.
