Violet Patterson, 91, formerly of Vera, passed away Thursday, December 15, 2016 in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Services will be held Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Believer’s Chapel in Munday with Shannon Waters, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Vera Cemetery under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.

Violet was born May 31, 1925 in Lamar County to Tommy Nelson and Annie Mae Wright King. She attended Seymour Schools.

Violet married Loran Patterson on July 3, 1943 in Seymour. He passed away April 15, 1987. She worked for Haggers in Olney for over 8 years and owned and operated Seymour’s House of Flowers for over 9 years. She spent most of her life helping her husband on the farm and raising her children. Violet wrote the Vera News for the Baylor County Banner for many years. She was a member of the Believer’s Chapel in Munday.

Violet was preceded in death by her son, Richard Loran (Dicky) Patterson, Sr. in 1997 and a grandson, Richard Loran (Little Dicky) Patterson, Jr. in 2007.

She is survived by her daughter, Christy Miller and husband, Bill of Lincoln, NE; a sister, Tommie Mae Crawford Munday; a sister-in-law, Leota Cardwell of Starkville, Mississippi; 4 grandchildren, Gidget Miller, Heidi Deady, Lance Patterson and Tina Patterson; 10 great grandchildren ; 1 great great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
