Doug married Kathy Tarter on July 2, 1980, in Salina. He grew up in the Barnes and Waterville area and graduated from Waterville High School. He then attended Brown Mackie College in Salina.
Doug served his country in Vietnam. He was co-owner of Bob’s Auto with his brother, Mel. Doug also was in partnership with Gypsum Valley Sporting Clays.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy; daughter, Dina Hanson (Roy); son, Brian and friend, Jess; grandchildren, Corin and Kira Hanson, and Isaac, Zoey and Gunner Potts; brother, Mel Potts; and aunts, Phyllis McDowell and Marian Bonin-Thornton.
