James Carl "Jake" Cowart, 65, of 30 w. Fifth St. Woodside, died Sept. 8 1995, at his home. Born in Pickens County, he was a member of Jane Russell Presbyterian Church. He retired from Mac Reeves Plumbing Co. Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Cowart; a daughter, Lynn Cowart, all of Greenville; four sons, James E. Cowart, Donald Cowart, Scott Cowart and Jay Cowart, all of Greenville. his mother and stepfather, Stella Cowart Banks and Velvet Banks of Greenville; three sisters, Olamae Redding Betty Sue Drummond and Geraldine Pace, all of Greenville; two brothers, Robert Chambers and Charles Chambers; nine grandchildren, Misty Cowart, Brian Cowart, Brad Cowart, Shonda Rutland, Brittary Rutland, Brannon Cowart, Robin Masters and Travis King, all of Greenville, and Allison Pence of Reedieville,Tenn. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Josephine Helton and Lela Cole. Services; 3 p.m. Sunday at Jane Russell Presbyterian Church withh burial in Graceland Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jeff Rackley, J.B. Rutland, Mike Carlton, Brian Masters. Wayne Lollis, Brian Cowart and Jimmy Neely. Visitations: 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest.
