Doris M. Frazier (nee Wunder) went home to be with the Lord on January 28, 2017. Doris was born in Harris, Iowa, on October 15, 1925 to Hans and Myrtle (Turk) Wunder. The family later moved to Milford, Iowa, where Doris attended high school and was graduated from Okoboji Consolidated High School in 1943. She later attended Mankato Business School in Mankato, Minnesota. On October 19, 1945, she was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Max Frazier. They celebrated their 60th anniversary in October 2005.

After the War, Max and Doris lived in Des Moines where Max attended Capital City Commercial College. They moved to Spencer and later to Carlisle before moving to Boone in 1955 when Max began his career with Archway Cookie Company. They later spent a year in Oregon in Bible study and a year in Iowa City working with a ministry team there. But Boone was near to their hearts, so it was back to Boone they moved.

Doris spent her entire life as a homemaker, a role that she truly enjoyed. She was an accomplished cook with an open door to any who wanted to come and share a meal. She enjoyed counted cross-stitch and quilting, making something for each grandchild. Doris was an avid gardener – her favorites were irises and daylilies. She took great pride in her gardens.

Doris was an active member of the First Evangelical Free Church of Boone, Iowa. She ministered as a Sunday school teacher and an AWANA leader for many years. She was an active choir member and sang in a ladies’ trio. In addition she served as a deaconess and Circle leader. Doris had a passion to share her love of Jesus and the Word of God with boys and girls and her life touched many of theirs.

Doris had a heart focused on missions. The needs of others around the world strongly spoke to her heart and she responded financially and, more importantly, with fervent prayer. Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren can all attest to the power of Doris’ prayers.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Hans and Mrytle (Turk) Wunder, her husband, Max, her brother, Denton Wunder, her son, Michael Frazier, a son-in-law, Michael Harper, and a grand daughter-in-law, Carol Frazier, and one grandchild, Allisa Frazier. She is survived by four children, Max Jr. (Marlys Rowe), Mary (Jack Smith), Diane Harper, Douglas (Debra Noack), and daughter- in -law Lucretia (Childs) Frazier. Her legacy also includes 14 grandchildren who loved her very much and 23 great grandchildren to whom she was a most special Great Grandma.
