Mrs. Zelia McKinney, 73, died at 8:15 a.m. today at her home, 213 1/2 East Jefferson street, Tipton, following a stroke she suffered Tuesday evening. She had been unconscious since that time.

The body was taken to Young's funeral home and friends may call there after 10:30 a.m. Friday. Funeral services have not been arranged pending word from relatives. Burial will be at Albright cemetery, near Kokomo.

Mrs. McKinney was born at Jerome in Howard county, on March 3, 1872, the daughter of Thomas J. Hawkins. She was one of seven children and lived in Jerome until her marriage in 1888 to James Arthur McKinney, of Howard county.

Seven years after their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. McKinney moved to Tipton county, where they resided about 50 years. They were the parents of four children, three of whom are living. Mr. McKinney died in 1939. Mrs. McKinney was a member of the First Baptist church.

Survivors include three children, Mrs. Blanche Young, Mrs. Sylvia Ballenger and William McKinney, all of Tipton; two brothers, R. Van Hawkins, Franklin, and Warner Hawkins, of Nebraska; one sister, Mrs. William Schoolcraft, Shelbyville; and several grandchildren.
