MYERS WINSTON-SALEM Claude James Myers Feb. 27, 1916 - Dec. 16, 2012 Claude James Myers, 96, passed away December 16, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born February 27, 1916 in Yadkin Co., NC to the late Noah Anderson Myers and Amelia Todd Myers. Mr. Myers served in the Army during World War II. He retired as Winston-Salem Port Director of the US Customs Service in 1978. He was an active member of Clemmons First Baptist Church. A devoted husband and father, he is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Mildred Gilchrist Myers. Surviving are three children, James Myers and wife Teresa of Winston-Salem, Carol Myers Louie and husband Kevin of San Francisco, Jean Myers of Cleveland, Ohio; two grandchildren, Rachel and Ryan Louie; sister Loyce Marklin of Mocksville; loyal friend Clarence Curry; numerous nieces and nephews. Also preceded in death by sisters Ruby Davis and Juanita Brandon and brother Harrison Myers. A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 19, at Clemmons First Baptist Church with Dr. Robbie Phillips officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service at 10:00 a.m.. Mr. Myers is donating his body to Baptist Hospital for research in hope of helping others. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Salvation Army or Winston-Salem Rescue Mission.
