Marilynn (nee Weiler) Hupfer, 73 of Lorain died Sunday, September 12, 2004, in Amherst Manor Nursing Home following a long illness.

She was born on October 3, 1930, in Limestone, PA and lived in Lorain most of her life.

She graduated from Lorain High School in 1948. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Hupfer was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, director of Christian Education for the mentally retarded, chairman of the Hunger Task Force, a member of the Church Administrative Board, chairman of the Pastor-Parish Relations Committee, Delegate at Large for the United Methodist Annual Conference at Lakeside, Ohio, and a member of the choir.

She founded Camp Ideas, a camp for children with disabilities held in July at the Christ United Methodist Church in Lorain. She was chairman of the Murray Ridge Levy Committee, chairman of the Task Force for Lorain's Disabilities Act and was instrumental in raising the fine for Parking in a Handicapped Space illegally. She was an avid reader, enjoyed swimming and helping raise her two great granddaughters.

Mrs. Hupfer is survived by her husband of 55 years: William Hupfer; son: Keith Hupfer of Lorain; daughter: Linda Davieau of Lorain; 2 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; brothers Don Weiler of Stephanville, TX, Jeff Hyman of Lima, OH; sisters: Carol Catlett of Lima, OH, and Michelle Risser of Ft. Wayne, IN.

She was preceded in death by her father: Benjamin Weiler; mother: Romaine (nee Agnew) Weiler Hyman; and a son in law Paul J. Nagy.

Friends may call 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, September 14, 2004, at the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio 44052.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 15, 2004, at 11 a.m. in the Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 400 6th Street, Lorain, Ohio 44052 with Rev. Darlene Robinson, Pastor and Rev. Charles Howard, retired, officiating.

Burial will be in the Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township, Ohio.

The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to Camp Ideas in care of the funeral home.
