James Ruff, age 97 of Breckenridge, passed away Thursday, August 11, 2022. Graveside funeral service with military honors will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, August 15th in the Albany Cemetery with Russell Scott officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Morehart Mortuary.

James Allen Ruff was born April 18, 1925 in Albany, Texas to parents, James Houston Ruff and Eddith Dillingham Ruff. In 1943, James joined the United States Navy and served in World War II before his honorable discharge in 1946. On October 1, 1946, he married Betty Jean Israel in Palo Pinto. He worked most of his life in the oil field as a contract pumper and later became an independent producer. James was a member of the American Legion and of the local VFW. He was preceded in death by his parents, Houston and Eddith Ruff; his wife, Betty Ruff; one brother, Marvin Ruff; two daughters, Helen Jean Ruff, Judy Elizabeth Ruff; one son, Jimmy Ruff; one daughter-in-law, Dianna Ruff; and one grandson, Kevin Ruff.

Mr. Ruff is survived by two sons, Roy G. Ruff and wife Debra, Bill G. Ruff and wife Billie "Bea", all of Albany; grandchildren, Chasady Browning and husband Billy Bob of Eastland, Amy Jenkins and husband Jace of Midlothian, Heather Ruff of Littlefield, Candy Balliew and husband Tim of Albany, Dan Ruff and wife Tara of Albany, Corey Ruff and wife Jasa of Abilene; great grandchildren, Ashley Dendy and Duncan Douglas of Lubbock, Bo Browning and wife Madison of Stephenville, Kelly Dendy of Littlefield, Bailey Browning of Eastland, Maxwell Balliew of Albany, Ana Balliew of Albany, Wesley Ruff of Abilene, Cason Browning of Eastland, Grady Jenkins, Graham Jenkins, both of Midlothian, Bradley Ruff of Abilene, Lillian Ford of Littlefield, Houston Ruff of Abilene, Bennett Ruff of Albany; and great-great grandchildren, Karlina Perez of Littlefield, Rynleigh Browning of Stephenville, Reign Douglas of Lubbock; and his longtime friend, Ramona Conner.
