Services for Edward “Sonny” Gayle Tyler will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 1, 2017, in the chapel at Kramer of Colfax, with Pastor Ken Arnold and Rev. Ralph Johnson officiating under the direction of Kramer of Colfax Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Colfax Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning on Tuesday, January 31, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and will resume on Wednesday at 9 a.m. until the time of service.
Edward “Sonny” Gayle Tyler, 80, of Colfax, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2017, at LSU Medical Center in Shreveport.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Dovie Tyler; brother, Phillip Tyler; son, Eddie Tyler and granddaughter, Trista Tyler.
Sonny was a fisher and a fisher of men. The most important things to him were his relationship with Jesus Christ, his family and spending time fishing. He served his Country in the National Guard. Sonny was the definition of an entrepreneur- establishing Tyler Fur Company, owning two used car lots, Eat N Run Restaurant, and Manager of Ford’s Grocery Store in Colfax. Community was also important to Sonny. He was instrumental in building KVDP Christian Radio Station in Colfax and the Grant Youth Football league. Sonny also served his community as a Town Councilman in Colfax for 14 ½ years, he was Pastor of the Church of the Nazarene in Colfax for seven years and Assistant Pastor at Liberty Christian Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 57 years, Shirley Perot Tyler of Colfax; four children, James Tyler and his wife, Karen, Tim Tyler, Randy Tyler, Shonda Tyler Coutee and her husband, Jerry; 13 grandchildren, Angelia Dunbar, Travis Tyler, Cory Tyler, Christina Raffield, Caleb Tyler, Colan Tyler, Colby Tyler, Isaiah Tyler, Caiden Paige, Caden Tyler, Preston Tyler, Lydia Coutee, Analise Coutee; two step-grandchildren, Brandi Coutee, Colton Coutee; seven great-grandchildren, Jacey Dunbar, Triston Dunbar, Gracelin Raffield, Jordan Tyler, Trey Dunbar, Brinley Raffield, Aiden Tyler; three step-great-grandchildren, Nevaeh Smith, Eva Coutee, Ryland Raggio; four siblings, Delores Threlkeld, Stanley Tyler, Steve Tyler and Diane Tyler; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbears honored to serve will be, Travis Tyler, Cory Tyler, Caleb Tyler, Colan Tyler, Colby Tyler, Isaiah Tyler, Caiden Paige, Caden Tyler and Barret Brasseaux.
