Lora Watson, age 55, of Stewart Branch Road in Bakersville died, Saturday, January 28, 2017 at her home.

Born on July 28, 1961 in Mitchell County, she was the daughter of the late Frank Stewart and Norma McNab Newman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Joey Stewart and a sister, Linda Stewart.

Lora was a member of the Bear Creek Baptist Church. She enjoyed being outdoors, gardening and working with flowers. She loved her grandchildren and spending time with them and also loved camping, fishing, and swimming.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Ronnie Watson, Sr. of the home; her son; Ronnie Watson, Jr. of Bakersville; her daughter; Laura Watson of Spruce Pine; her grandchildren; Katlyne Watson, Ronnie Watson, III; Alexus Watson; and Ariel Watson; her brothers; Lewis Stewart and Frankie Stewart, Jr. both of Spruce Pine and her sister; Tammy Stewart of Raleigh.

The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service honoring the life of Lora Watson on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 2:30 pm at the Bear Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Bruce Cannon officiating. A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 from 1:30 pm until the service hour at the church. Interment will follow in the Bear Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt ‘Thanks’ to all of their family and friends for their support during Laura’s illness. They would also like to say, ‘Thank You’ to the staff of the Cancer Center of Blue Ridge Regional Hospital and Hospice and Palliative Care of the Blue Ridge for the wonderful care of Lora during her sickness.
