Misty K. Kennedy, 38, of Avondale, WV, passed away Friday, January 27, 2017 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem, NC, after fighting courageously for several years.
Misty was born December 23, 1978 in Richlands, VA, a daughter of the late Barbara Ann Baker Bishop and Willard Anderson Bishop. She was a graduate of Iaeger High School where she enjoyed cheer leading. After graduation, she attended Concord College and Bluefield State College. Misty was a loving wife and mother. She enjoyed doing beauty pageants with her daughters and was a member of the Garland Church of the Living God. Misty was an EMT and a nurse's aide.
In addition to her mother she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Willard and Beaulah Bishop and her grandfather, John Henry Baker.
Survivors include her husband of ten years, John Kennedy of the home; her father, Willard Bishop of Avondale, WV, two daughters, Brooklyn Kennedy and Presley Kennedy both of the home; two step daughters, Kayla Kennedy and Melanie Kennedy both of Coon Branch, near Iaeger, WV; one sister and brother-in-law, Summer Dawn and Ryan Bailey of Barbourville, WV; her grandmother, Mary Muncy of Peterstown, WV; a niece, Madison Payne of Barbourville, WV; two brothers-in-law, Larry Kennedy ad wife Stephanie of Statesville, NC, and Dale Hawks also of Statesville, NC; several aunts and uncles; numerous cousins; the community of Garland, who were her extended family and friends. The family truly appreciates all the help and support which they have given. Also, her special friends; the doctors, nurses, and staff at Wake Forest. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 1 o'clock with Reverend Kenny Green, Reverend Adam Wheeler and Reverend Ray Blankenship officiating at the Garland Church of the Living God at Garland, WV.
Burial will follow in the Short Ridge Cemetery on Garland Mountain near Avondale, WV. Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends.
