Adeline Matilda DuVal, fourth daughter of Maj. Claiborne (1760-1824) and Elizabeth Pope DuVal (1760-1815), was born near Danville, Ky. She married in 1819, her second cousin, Dr. Archibald Bolling DuVal (1799-1877)(Transylvania M.D. 1837), son of Col. Samuel Sheppard (1752-1825) and Anne Everard Bolling DuVal. He was a Methodist minister and later physician. Their seven children were Anne Everard (1820-1901); Martha M. (c1826-1850); Dr. Alexander Summerfield (1827-1900); Dr. John who graduated in medicine in Paris, France, but died young; Rev. Elmore Douglas (c1838-); Rev. Edward (1840-1900); and Adeline Matilda DuVal (c1842-1902).

Ann Everard DuVal (1820-1901) married in 1843, in Sumner County, Tn., Methodist minister Rev. Franklin Collett Wilkes (1822-81), son of Richard Ambrose (1799-1867) and Judith Harris Wilkes (1801-81). He was chaplain of the Methodist College at Chapel Hill, Tex. and a colonel in the Civil War (CSA). Their six children were William (c1845-6_) who died in the Civil War; Ames Booth (1847-1920); Franklin DuVal (1849-86); Richard Bolling (1851-1932); attorney Edward (c1854-) in Llano County, Tx, who married and whose daughter was Alice (c1877-); and Josephine Wilkes (1859-).

Dr. Alexander Summerfield DuVal (1827-1900) was a dentist in Nashville and Lawrenceburg, Tn. He married (1) in 1853, Mary Ratcliffe Ringo (1830-88), daughter of Elijah M. and Eliza Todd Ringo, of Fayetteville, Tn. Their eight children were Mary Elzira (1854-1924); Ann Everard (1856-1922); Dr. Ringo Lucius (1858-1935); Susan Emma (1860-1931) who married Lorenzo Dow Bates (1843-1926); Frank M. (1863-1910) who married and died in Denver; Lillie (1865-1955); Johnnie Albertis (1868-76); and Edward Bolling DuVal (1871-1942). He married (2) Mrs. Rebecca Hatcher, a widow, of Columbia, Tn.

Adeline Matilda DuVal (c1842-1903) married Capt. Benjamin Eustace McCulloch (CSA)(1845-1916), son of Brig. General Henry Eustace (CSA)(1816-95) and Jane Isabella Ashby McCulloch (1822-96), of Austin, Tx. They lived in Austin and Marshall, Tx. Their six children were Benjamin Eustace, Jr. (1866-1900); Addie Belle (1869-1937); Henry A. (1873-1935); Alexander DuVal (1873-1934); Rush DuVal (1879-1965); and Isabel McCulloch.

Adeline Matilda DuVal died April 3, 1860, in Chappel Hill, Tex. and is buried ___. Her husband, Rev. Archibald Bolling DuVal, died July 22, 1877, and is buried in San Geronimo Cemetery, Seguin, Tx.
