ROBERT SCOFIELD
PORTAGE- Robert Eugene Scofield, 79, retired chemist and former teacher, died Friday in Fountain View Nuring Home, LaPorte.
He was a lifelong resident of Portage, born April 17, 1903, the son of Herbert D. and Augusta M. (Humphrey) Scofield. In August 1932 he married Shirley Lucille Martin who survives.
He was a retired City Service Oil Co. chemist with 20 years of service and a former industrial arts teacher at Portage High School.
Survivors also include two sons, James H. of California and Robert E. Jr. of Virginia; and five grandchildren.
Cremation today at Calvary Crematory, Portage; Engel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements; memorials to the Indiana Audubon Society, of which he was a member. He was also a member of the Air Stream Travel Club.
