Rex L. Williams, 86, of rural Birmingham died at 8:35 A.M. Saturday January 28, 2017 at Keosauqua Health Care Center where he had resided since November 2, 2016.

He was born February 5, 1930 in rural Birmingham to Lester and Minnie Jones Williams and lived his life in the Birmingham community.

He married Evelyn Aringdale October 13, 1956 in Spring River Church near Columbus Junction. She died June 3, 2009.

Rex graduated from Birmingham High School and spent his active life farming in the area where he was born.

Surviving are two sons, Gayle Williams (Julie) of McPherson, KS and Myron Williams of Wayland, three granddaughters, two grandsons, two great-grandsons, three sisters, Donna Johnson of Jefferson City, MO, Barbara Anderson (Harry) of Birmingham and Joyce Lenz (Dean) of Mesa, AZ and a daughter-in-law, Linda Williams of Birmingham.

A son Kent Williams preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday February 1, 2017 at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua with Pastor Larry Smith officiating. Visitation will open at 3 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home with family present 5-7 P.M. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Birmingham.

Memorials to Maple Hill Cemetery may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 406 East Main Street, Wayland, IA 52654
