Dot and Otto Hill

Vera Dorothy “Dot” Hill passed on to be with our Lord on January 27, 2017. She was 91 years old.

Dot was born in Bethel Springs, Tennessee on May 12, 1925, to Arthur and Myrtle Williams. She was the Librarian at Dickinson High School for 42 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Edna.

Her husband of 48 years, James Otto Hill, joined her in heaven less than 12 hours later in the early morning hours of January 28, 2017.

He was 92 years old. Otto was born in Sewanee, Tennessee on June 2, 1924 to Elizabeth “Lizzie” and Allen “Bud” Hill. He served in the Marine Corps during WWII in the Pacific Theatre.

Dot and Otto married on November 27, 1948 and moved to Dickinson, Texas in 1952, where they lived together for the rest of their lives. Otto was an educator in the Dickinson and Texas City school systems where he taught and counseled generations of students.

They are survived by their children, Rene Hill Lee, Mickie Hill, Leah Hill Gentile and James O. Hill, Jr., and by their 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at the Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson on Monday, January 30, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church on Tuesday, January 31, at 11:00 a.m. followed by the
interment in the church cemetery.
