EVANGELINE DIACOMICHALIS died on May 23, 2005, at the age of 91. She was born in Dorothy, West Virginia on June 22, 1913, to Greek immigrant parents, Vasilios and Helen Giannaras.

Evangeline was married to George Diacomichalis and they are the parents of four daughters, Helen Turley of Clinton, Tenn., Irene Diacomichalis of Charleston, Anna Nicholas of Toledo, Ohio, and Dena D'Michalis of Washington, D.C. Grandchildren include Timothy, Dean, George and Jon Turley, Dr. Kristan and Corey Nicholas; and one precious great-granddaughter, LuciLee Nicholas. Also surviving is her brother, Nick Giannaras of Steubenville, Ohio.

Evangeline was employed at Haddad's Department Store, Whitesville, and retired from there. After that, she was employed at Stone & Thomas Department Store and retired from there at the age of 83.

She was an active member of St. John's Greek Orthodox Church and was one of the supreme bakers of the Ladies Philoptochos Society at their yearly dinners and bake sales.

Evangeline's many interests were sewing, reading, gardening and baking. Most of all, her passion was the reverence of life and the love and care of her family.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 26, at St. John's Greek Orthodox Church, MacCorkle Avenue, Kanawha City. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston.
