Bee, VA – Sharon Kay Sullivan, age 69, passed away Friday, January 27, 2017 at Heritage Hall Healthcare in Clintwood, VA. Born July 30, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Delta Breeding.

She was a graduate of Haysi High School, Southwest Virginia Community College, and East Tennessee State University where she holds a bachelor’s degree in English and Psychology. She taught English, Latin, and physical education in Buchanan County Schools for 25 years. She was a member of the National Education Association, Virginia Education Association, and Buchanan Education Association. She also taught piano lessons and had been a member and officer of the Order of the Eastern Star, Clintwood Chapter 144. She had been an election officer for the Republican Party at Davenport poll since 1982. She was a member of Looney’s Chapel United Methodist Church since December 1995 where she sang alto with the Methodist Parish choir and Looney’s choir. Before that she was a member of Sandlick Presbyterian Church for twenty-five years and church pianist for eighteen years. She was an avid reader. She was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, George and Effie Breeding, Maternal grandparents, Stratton and Nervie Sutherland, and a granddaughter, Ashley Lynn Rasnake.

Survivors include a daughter, Angela Lynn Rasnake of FL, a sister, Dianah (Donnie) Harrison of Clinchco, VA, a niece, Tammy (Shane) Cochran of Clintwood, grandsons, Michael and Brett Rasnake of FL, great nephews, Brody and Cade Cochran, and aunts, Linda Church of Davenport and Shirley Owens of Hurt, VA.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday,
January 31, 2017 at Haysi Funeral Home with Pastor David Cummings officiating.

Burial will follow in the O’quinn Cemetery, Bee. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. on Monday, January 30, at the funeral home where a service will be held at 7:00 p.m.
