Paul T. Burnett, 84, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Friday, January 27, 2017 at VNA Hospice Center in Valparaiso, Indiana.

He was born March 14, 1932 in Campton, Kentucky, the son of the late John and Gracie (Puckett) Burnett.

Paul retired in 1996 after 38 years as the laundry and dry cleaning foreman at Westville Correctional Center. He was a volunteer fireman for Union Mills Fire department and was named an honorary legion member.

He was an avid gardener, enjoyed bowling and was on a bowling league. He also enjoyed hunting, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

On June 30, 1964, in Westville, Indiana, he married Phyllis Reed who preceded in death June 27, 2016.

He is survived by his son, John Burnett of Richmond, IN; two daughters, Kelly (John) Peaks of La Porte, IN, Paula Dunlap of Kingsford Heights, IN; six grandchildren, Kristin, Kai, Jonathan, Dara, Zoe, Grace; three brothers, Stanley (Nancy) Burnett Kenneth (Bernice) Burnett Dewey Burnett all of KY; sister, Juanita Risner of KY

Paul was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Burnett and Harold Burnett; two sisters, Hazel Back and Anna Spencer.
