On Saturday January 21, 2017, our beloved mom, Lydia E. Morales, was embraced by God's loving and comforting arms. She was born March 2, 1936 to Lionel and Lucinda Ramirez in Bishop, Texas. She was preceded in death by the love of her life and high school sweetheart, her husband Donato Morales, to whom she was married for 56 years.
She was a faithful and devoted military wife, accompanying her spouse to several duty stations in Washington DC, Kansas, Spain, Maryland, Michigan and Texas. For over 20 years, she was a dedicated employee with various Federal Civil Service jobs wherever her husband was stationed. She retired in July 2002 from Wilford Hall Medical Center, Internal Medicine Clinic, where she made many lasting friendships. Among those friends were doctors who cared for and treated her during her final months of her illness.
She, along with her late husband, were longtime members of Resurrection of the Lord Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and a Music Minister. She was a member of the Marian Society and volunteered with the St. Vincent de Paul Society. She was also a choir member with the Voices of Victory Ministry and the St. Vincent de Paul Church Charismatic Prayer Group. Lydia enjoyed volunteering at the Majestic Theatre and the San Antonio Arts. She is remembered by many for her devotion to God and Church and the love of her late husband. She always stressed the importance of God and family.
Lydia is preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister, Leonor (Nena) Amaya. She is survived by her children, sisters, brother, aunt and many other relatives including numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews.
