Carl Gilmore's spirit passed from his body into eternity while lying next to his beloved wife Sharon on the morning of December 5, 2016. A celebration of his life will be held Friday, December 9, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Winnsboro Second Baptist Church in Winnsboro, LA with Reverend H. E. Harris, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow at Northeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, Rayville, LA.

Carl was born to Norman "Slim" Gilmore and Emma Green Gilmore on April 16, 1952. As a child he grew up in Jonesville, LA. He graduated Jonesville Consolidated High School where he excelled at math and played varsity basketball.

After graduating high school, he enrolled at Southern University and Aand M in Baton Rouge, LA. His college education was interrupted by the US Army, as he was drafted during the Vietnam War. His army career of 32 years took him into many foreign lands including, Germany, Belize, Turkey, Kuwait and Iraq.

Carl completed his college education at Northwestern State University with both his Bachelor and Master degrees. He also did further study at Northeast Louisiana University (ULM), LA Tech and Louisiana College.

Carl worked tirelessly in the Catahoula Parish School System as a behavior interventionist, classroom teacher, coach and administrative assistant before retiring in 2014.

Carl's memory will be forever held in the heart of his beloved wife and soulmate Sharon. His legacy of love and laughter will live on in the lives of his surviving family members, his son, Carl Denard Gilmore (Whitney); siblings, Norman Van Gilmore (Theresa); sisters, Traci Gilmore Clayton (Anthony), Marilyn Fay Gilmore, half-sister Josie Lee Gilmore; step children Larry Beckwith (Manasha), Tayler Beckwith; step grandchildren, Chase, Kinsley, Larry III, Jaiden and Mariah; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is preceded by a brother Herman Gilmore, Sr.
