Abraham Marsh, U.E. Loyalist
Born: Albany County, New York Province
Residence: Shaftsbury, Albany County, New York Province (now Vermont).
Married to Catherine French, daughter of Jeremiah French U.E.L.
Elected to Parliament for Stormont County in 1808.
Died: Mille Roches, Cornwall Twp., Stormont County, Upper Canada, buried at Maple Grove Cemetery. Most of the village of Mille Roches was on land once owned by Abraham Marsh.

Abraham Marsh, a Revolutionary War soldier, joined His Majesty's troops in Montreal in 1777, 84th Regiment of Foot, commanded by Brig'r Gen'l McLean. Served with General Burgoyne at Saratoga, later joining the First Battalion of Sir John Johnson's King's Royal Regiment of New York, serving as a private for the rest of the war. Abraham was discharged from Carleton Island in 1783, and was granted land in Royal Township 2 Cornwall Township, Stormont County, Upper Canada, for his loyalty and service to the Crown.

Abraham Marsh was elected to Parliament for Stormont County following the death of John Brownell in 1808. Abraham was settled on Lot 26, First Concession of Cornwall Township, later also acquiring Lot 25, and the greater part of the Village of Mille Roches was on land once owned by Abraham Marsh.

- Elizabeth Marsh, bapt. 4 Mar. 1792, married Robert McIntyre of Cornwall, O.C. 25 Feb. 1812. Marriage 1 Jan. 1812 at Trinity Anglican Church, Cornwall.

- Mary Ann Marsh, baptised 12 Oct. 1794. O.C. 17 Feb. 1816, married Michael Scarborough.

- John Marsh O.C. 25 Feb. 1812, married Mary Stata, daughter of Nicholas, on 15 March 1812. John died 18 Mar. 1872. Burial: Stata Cemetery. Memorial 152612976.

Gravesite Details

Maple Grove Cemetery, originally on the west half of Lot 22, Concession 1, Cornwall Township, property deeded to the Church by Jeremiah French U.E.L., was entirely moved to a new location on Highway 2 before the flooding for the seaway project, 1958.
