Katharine Schumacher, 83, of Robinson, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2007, at her residence. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors with Dr. Rodney Kruse and Pastor Mark Schumacher officiating. Interment will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Katharine was born in Akron, Ohio, to the late Mike and Dorothy (Sandich) Kovach. In 1948, she married Theodore William "Ted" Schumacher in Ohio and they moved to Waco in 1971. She was a long time volunteer at Providence Hospital and a member of the Ladies Golf Association at the former Western Oaks Golf Club.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Wills, on March 9, 2000.

Survivors include her husband, Ted, of Robinson; daughter, Shelley Smith and husband, Steve of Powell, Ohio; sons, Craig Schumacher, of Waco and Mark Schumacher and wife, Bridget, of El Paso; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
