Hazel Smith, age 79, of Bottineau, ND passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at the Bottineau Good Samaritan Society, Bottineau, ND.

Hazel Christine Smith was born on May 10, 1937 in Picton, ND to Matti and Aina (Neva) Raasakka. She was married to Glenn Smith and together they had a son, Kevin. They later divorced. Hazel grew up on a farm east of Rolla. She eventually moved to Rolla and in her later years resided in Rolette and then Bottineau. She will be lovingly remembered.

Hazel is survived by her son, Kevin Smith of Fargo, ND; brother, Wayne Raasakka of Rolla, ND; brother-in-law, Urban Leo; sister-in-law, Velma Raasakka; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Matti and Aina Raasakka, brothers, Alfred, Edward, Wesley, Ralph, George, Edwin, and Elmer Raasakka, and sisters, Elma Larson, Verna Leo, Velma Ross, Ellen Heinonen, Rose Kaleva, and Anna Pederson.
