Jimmy Dean Stevens, 72, Valley Falls, died Friday, Jan. 27, 2017, at St. Francis Health Center in Topeka. He was born July 12, 1944, at Atchison, the son of Scottie Francis and Marian Hosford Stevens. Jimmy was a warehouse man at the Ft. Leavenworth US Army Base, retiring in 2009 after working there for 25 years. He had worked for many years for Jefferson County Public School at Denver, CO. He was a member of the Valley Falls United Methodist Church. He married Maralene Crawley April 28, 1973, at Lakewood, CO. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Shelley Renee Lopez, Jan. 3, 2003. Survivors include his wife, Maralene, of the home; four sons, Barry (Dezerie) Stevens, Broomfield, CO, Ed Crawley, Morrison, CO, Flint Crawley, Arvada, CO, and Todd Crawley, Ozawkie, KS; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. The Memorial Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, 2017, at the Valley Falls United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls.
