Gary Lane Cornett, age 60 of London, KY, husband of Angela Cornett, passed away on Thursday, January 26 at St. Joseph Hospital in London, KY.
Along with his loving wife, he leaves behind his mother, Hazel Cornett; three children, Shawn Overbey, Blair Vorbeck and husband Tyler, Cameron Paul Cornett, all of London, KY; one sister, Jeannette Cornett Rowlett and husband Harold of Berea, KY; four grandchildren, Jaylen and Hagen Overbey, Fisher Vorbeck, Abagale Vorbeck, plus a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing.
He was preceded in death by his father, Paul William Cornett.
Gary taught history for 24 years in the Laurel County School System, having been diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy at the age of 20. This disability eventually lead to his retirement on April 1, 2008, touching so many lives along the way. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was loved and adored by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed.
Funeral services for Gary Lane Cornett will be conducted on Monday, January 30 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home with Harlan Avera and Jamie Maxey officiating. Burial will follow in the A.R. Dyche Memorial Park. The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 29, also at the funeral home.
