She married Christian Christopher Whistler, on Feb. 22, 1854. He was known as "C.C." and he was the son of William Whistler. C.C. worked as a tanner.

The family first moved to Indiana, and then they moved to Shelby County, Iowa. Lena died there, and she was probably buried on their farm. Her husband was so upset that he could no longer take care of the children, and so they were farmed out to other families to raise.
