Michael Patrick Harney 60, of Peabody, son of Marie (Bick) Harney of Peabody and the late Edward Harney. He passed away at Salem Hospital.

He was the brother of the late Nancy Harney.

He was raised and educated in Peabody where he attended Wallis Grammar School and was a graduate of Peabody Veterans Memorial High School Class of 1974. As a young boy he enjoyed playing basketball at Marrs Park with his friends who were still in his life into adulthood.

Michael joined the Marine Corps in July of 1976 after completing his boot camp training at MCRD Parris Island, proudly serving for 20 years until 1996. He served overseas in different locations throughout his service and was a highly decorated Marine.

For the past 20 years Mike has been employed by the City of Peabody with the Water Department where he will be missed terribly by his coworkers.

Also an avid golfer, he loved spending time on the golf course and with his many golf league buddies.

He is survived by his mother Marie, and by many relatives and friends.
