She was born on April 19, 1921 to the late William and Stella Roberts.
Mamie was affectionately known as “Nanny Good Pies” to her grandchildren and family. As her name suggests, she was a tremendous cook. She also enjoyed gardening, canning, quilting, and sewing. Mamie also loved to travel and “GO.” Many of these outings included yard sales and other trips and time spent with her family. She was a member of Ridgeview Baptist Church and a lifelong resident of Cleveland.
In addition to her mother and father, she is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Garnett Jenkins; brothers Lloyd W. Roberts and Clifford H. Roberts; sister Edna Roberts Dill.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory three sons: Franklin T. Jenkins (Judy), Randall L. Jenkins (Lynne), and Jerry Jenkins; two daughters Verna Jenkins Golden and Wanda Simmons; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren. In addition to these, Mamie leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday January 28, 2017 at 3:00pm at Ridgeview Baptist Church located at 1501 South Ocoee Street, Cleveland, TN 37311 with Rev. Ken Purdie and Rev. Mark Cameron officiating. Interment will follow the service at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm until 3:00pm at the church on Saturday prior to the service.
Companion Funeral and Cremation Service and the Cody family are honored to assist the Jenkins family with these arrangements.
