Mary Jo Stacy, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and cousin, passed away on January 23, 2016. She was born on July 21, 1922 in Dallas to Charles and Mabel Adams. She spent her childhood in the towns of Frisco, Kemp, Forney and Crandall but moved to Dallas after graduating top in her class from Forney High School. Her first job picking cotton with her dad, helped make up her mind that she would never marry a farmer. After moving to Dallas, she soon met and married a young man from Crandall, John Robert Stacy (aka J.R.), to whom she was married 59 years. Soon after marriage, her husband's enlistment in the Army took them both to Los Angeles where he trained for overseas duty during World War II. It was Mary Jo's first time to be away from immediate family, and she indicated their eleven month stay was kind of like a honeymoon. Mary Jo moved back to Texas when J.R. was shipped to the European Front. After returning from war, J. R. joined the Dallas Police Department, and Mary Jo and he eventually set up house in the new Dallas community of Pleasant Grove. This is where she fulfilled her wish of being a housewife and reared three children: John Robert Jr., Marla Denise, and Charles Michael. She was always active in her children's activities in and out of school. Mary Jo embraced history and knowing the roots of her heritage and was opinionated when it came to politics. She had a great sense of humor and had a good sense for design and style in furniture, clothes and holiday decorations. She also enjoyed Edith Bunker's (All in the Family) dumb humor, Dancing with the Stars and her favorite all time movie, Dr. Zhivago, which she saw over 20 times. Mary Jo also was a chocoholic since childhood. She took pride in the fact that she was able to live relatively independent and drive until the age of 90. She had really good long term memory; often recalling things her kids wish she had forgotten. When asked for a comment at her 93rd birthday, she indicated she "would love to start over as a newborn with all of the knowledge she had acquired in her 90+ years." Mary Jo loved her Lord Jesus Christ and has proudly displayed a picture of a "Laughing Jesus" wherever she lived. Daystar television's programs enabled her to continue to enjoy her worship time despite her disabilities over the years. Mary Jo was preceded in death by her spouse, John R Stacy, Sr.; father, Charles Adams; mother, Mabel Clarkson Adams; brother, Charles Adams, sister, Peggy Jacobs and twin brothers who died at birth. Survivors include daughter, Marla Pollock and spouse, Don of Dallas; son, Charles Michael Stacy and spouse, Barbara of Mabank and son, John Stacy, Jr. and spouse, Melody of Ft. Worth; as well as numerous grand children, great grand children and other family members. The family appreciates all of the caregivers and others who showed compassion and adapted to our mother's changing condition brought on by her illness.
