Fred O. Wells

KENNEBUNK - Fred P. Wells, 88, of Lower Village, died yesterday in a Biddeford hospital.

Born in Kennebunkport, Dec. 17, 1876, he was the son of Augustus and Lucy (Smith) Wells, and was a caretaker of Evergreen Cemetery for 33 years prior to retirement in 1962. He also was an honorary member of the board of directors of the Evergreen Cemetery Cor. For over 60 years Wells was an active member of the Advent Christian Church in the Lower Village.

Survivors include three cousins, Frank E. Twone, Boston: Alonzo Towne, Kennebunkport, and Winfield Towne, Goose Rocks Beach; two nieces, Flossie York and Edna York, both of this town, and four nephews, Norman Wells and Donald Wells, Portland. Harrison Coleman of this town and Arthur Lombard of Kennebunkport.

Fumeral services will be conducted from the Advent Christian Church at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Rev. Milford Butterfield, pastor, will officiate and interment will be in the family lot in Evergreen.

Friends may call at the Angell Funeral Home, 9 Dane St., this town, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
