Catherine Mayeux Price, 91, of Lake Charles passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at Grand Cove Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Catherine was born in Baton Rouge, LA on December 13, 1925 but grew up in Oberlin and Crowley, LA. She had been a resident of Lake Charles since 1946. She was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church from 1950 until becoming a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in 2004. She was a past member of St. Vincent de Paul Society, St. Margaret PTC and St. Patrick Hospital Auxiliary. Mrs. Price was active in the Campfire Girls and the Boy Scouts of America.
Those left to cherish her memory are two sons, Ernest Price, Jr. (Becky) of Colorado Springs, CO and Daniel Price of Abbeville, LA; two daughters, Catherine P. Sonnonstine (Terry) of Austin, TX and Claire R. Price of Lake Charles, LA; her son-in-law, Robert Scott, Sr. (Brenda) of New Iberia; 11 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; a brother, Louis Mayeux of Crowley, LA; and a sister, Dr. Ruth Allen (Gary) of Asheville, NC.
She was preceded in death by Ernest Price, Sr., her husband of 53 years and Raymond Melancon, her husband of 7 years; a daughter, Renee Price Scott; a son, Leo Charles Price; and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Mayeux.
A funeral mass will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. The Rev. Nathan Long will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Saturday in the funeral home at 10:00 AM with a rosary being recited at 12:00 PM.
