Sarah "Sallie" Hill, died in the Sultana explosion Apr
of 1865

There were, however two Samuel Vesser, both
born circa 1835, who married a Sarah "Sallie" :

card (he served as an Indiana Infantryman, Co 60).
Obviously he didn't died from/on the Sultana but he
also died before 1870

So, which Samuel survived and which died? SAM 1 or SAM 2?
Data and records don't differentiate enough to prove either
So, THIS Sam's possible alternate date of death: 11 Sep 1866

Research by Jack Lundquist which is reported in Ancestry's own
Civil War Soldier Records and Profiles, states that a Samuel Vesser
who was a Pvt, Co K, 26 Ind Infantry, was an"exchanged POW"
and "survived the Sultana explosion" BUT this record does conflict
with the 1865 death record (see photo)
