Terry L. Gates September 3, 1941 January 24, 2017 Terry L. Gates, 75, of Reedsville, passed away Tuesday morning, Jan. 24, 2017, after a seven month hard-fought battle with lung cancer. Born Sept. 3, 1941, at the home of his maternal grandparents in Huntingdon, he was a son of the late Preston "Ray" and Dorothy Blanche (Isenberg) Gates. His wife, Shirley J. (Aumiller) Gates, whom he married Sept. 3, 1960, survives. They celebrated 56 "birthaversaries" together. Also surviving are: a daughter, Stacey L. Gates, of Lewistown; five grandchildren, Jessyca Hughes, Shannah Boring, Nathan Boring, Justin Boring, Christianna Smith; and three special great grandchildren: Aubrey Hughes, Bryson Hughes and Julianna Smith. Terry had worked at the A & P in Lewistown, Yeagertown, Newport and New Bloomfield from 1958-1964; then he was a machinist in Machine Shop #1 at Standard Steel from 1964, until his retirement in 2003. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Siglerville. He was a 1959 graduate Lewistown High School and played clarinet in the high school band. He played saxophone as a member of the "Vicounts in the early 1960's. Then he was a Deputy Game Protector from 1969-1976, and was a member of the N.R.A. He enjoyed spending Tuesdays and time in the mountains with his brother-in-law "Ike". Terry felt he was an Aumiller, being part of this family of eight since 1960. And at times forgot he wasn't one, and loved them all. A celebration of his life for family and friends will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 27, 2017, at the Pleasant Acres Assembly of God Church with Pastor Dennis Sproull officiating. Interment services will be private at Salem Cemetery, Siglerville. All flowers will be provided by the family. For online condolences visit bohnfuneralhome.com.
