BIG PRAIRIE -- Nellie L. Martin, 90, of Big Prairie passed away Tuesday evening, Jan. 24, 2017, at Pomerene Hospital in Millersburg, following a brief illness.
A funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, 2017, at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, with pastors Dale Duncan and Randy Kemper officiating. Burial will be in Nashville Cemetery. Friends may call one hour before the service on Friday at the funeral home.

Nellie was born March 9, 1926, in Danville to Dannie and Ethel (ne Parsons) Cline. On Nov. 15, 1949, she married Don W. Martin, who preceded her in death on Dec. 22, 2015.
Nellie was a nurse in Loudonville and at Joel Pomerene Hospital for 25 years, retiring in 1986. She was so proud to have been the nurse to first hold and clean up her grandson, Chad, when he was born. Nellie liked to knit, crochet and mend clothes. She made hundreds of baby hats for Akron Children's Hospital.
Nellie was a member of Welcome Church of Christ and a member of the auxiliary of the Millersburg American Legion and auxiliary of the VFW in Perrysville.
She is survived by her daughter, Dawn (Steven) Gamertsfelder of Millersburg; grandson, Chad Cox of Clarksville, Tennessee; and two sisters, Ruby E. Martin of Millersburg and Karen Jean Griffith of Washington Courthouse.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Garry Clinage; and a sister, Gladys Miller. (T-G 01/26/17)
