Stanley, 63, of Nashville, MI, died Tuesday, January 24, 2017 in Lansing. Rusty was the son of Stanley and Barbara (Pratt) Carter.

He graduated from Maple Valley High School in 1972 before going to work for Lansing Drop Forge for 16 years. He then worked 27 years at Tenneco Auto in Marshall. Rusty enjoyed classic cars and playing cards, especially Texas Hold 'Em. He was an avid hunter and sports fan, especially NASCAR. Rusty enjoyed time in the outdoors snowmobiling and playing softball. Rusty also coached little league football and baseball. He loved his dog, Bear Kodiac Carter. Above all he cherished time spent with his family, especially during the Christmas season.

Rusty is survived by Dawn Carter; mother, Barbara Carter; sister, Sally (Kevin) Carter Ripley; daughter, Tressa (Nate Moon) Carter; son, Travis (Esmeralda) Carter; step-sons, Jason (Belinda) Nichols, Andrew Nichols, and Mike Nichols; grandchildren, Audreya (Jason) Quainton, Thomas Cavender Moon, Brittney Moon, Tyler DeWitt, Kameryn Carter, Luca Amicucci, Daniel Amicucci, Nicolas Amicucci, Xander Nichols, Gabe Nichols, Rhiannon Nichols, and Jude Nichols; great-grandchildren, Jackson Quainton, Brycen Moon, Jenna Quainton, Jamieson Quainton, and Jacob Quainton; and nephews, Kevin (Michelle) Ripley Jr. and Derek (Kim) Ripley.

He was predeceased by his father, Stanley Carter Sr. and brother, Tom Carter.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Pray Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Jenson officiating. Interment will take place later in Woodlawn Cemetery, Vermontville.

The family is in the care of Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
