Elizabeth E. (Denault) McDermott, 86, of Bristol, RI and formerly of Somerset, passed away Sunday in the Silver Creek Nursing Home after a long illness. She was the widow of Carl W. McDermott.

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Leo Denault and the late Edith (Livsey) Denault, she lived much of her life in Somerset, having moved to Bristol in recent years.

Elizabeth is remembered by her family for her knitting, gardening, her frequent detours to the Somerset Creamery, and for becoming her grandchildren’s biggest fan at sports. She also worked part time at Sears in Swansea and at the Venus de Milo Restaurant; and she volunteered regularly in support of Muscular Dystrophy research.

She is survived by two sons, Thomas E. McDermott and his wife Kathleen of Westport, James M. McDermott and his wife Kathleen of Fall River; a daughter and Maureen Weigold and her husband William of Mars, PA; a brother, Leo Denault of Poughkeepsie, NY; six grandchildren, Corrie, Jennifer, Sarah and Michael McDermott, Tracy Chamberlain, Jillian Reed and a great grandchild, Lincoln Reed.



Funeral Information

Her funeral will be held Thursday at 9AM from the the Hathaway Home for Funerals, 1813 Robeson St., Fall River, with a funeral mass at St. Joseph Church, Fall River at 10. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours, Wednesday 4-7 PM. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
