James Edwin Day, 77, of Longview, Ill., passed away at 5:01 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017, at Carle Hospital, Urbana.
Visitation will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017, at Heath and Vaughn Funeral Homecandle, 201 N. Elm, Champaign, followed by a graveside service at Villa Grove Cemetery, Villa Grove, Ill. The Rev. Jerry Connor will officiate.
Mr. Day was born Feb. 10, 1939, in Champaign, a son of Joseph and Stella (Blair) Day. They preceded him in death.
Also preceding him in death were his wife, Letitia; two daughters; six sisters and two brothers.
He is survived by four daughters, Teresa Akers and Daphne Miller, both of Longview, and Danielle Pasley and Tanya Eddy, both of Urbana; three sons, Jimmy Day of Broadlands, Travis Day of Mt. Morris, Ill., and Jason Day of Allerton; 67 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
Before his retirement, Mr. Day was employed as a sprinkler fitter. He enjoyed gardening and stock car racing.
