Mr. Irvin Clarence Adams, 65, of Rock Springs Road, Lavonia, went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at his home, after an eighteen month battle with cancer. His motto was “Fight like the Dickens”.
Born on November 14, 1951 in Elberton, GA, he was the son of Juanita Wilder Adams Scruton of Dewy Rose and the late W. Horace Adams. Mr. Adams was retired from Tenneco Automotive Co. after 30 years of service, a member of the Deep Creek Baptist Church and attended Mt. Olivet Baptist Church. He enjoyed being outside doing construction work, loved his 1975 black Ford pickup and his five grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife: Cathy Daniel Adams of forty one years; one son: Kris Adams (Lynn) of Hartwell; two daughters: April Bentley (Craig) of Martin, Wendy Adams of Lavonia; three brothers: Rev. Tim Adams (Petrea), Ronnie Adams, all of Colbert and Kenneth Adams (Rhea) of Greensboro, NC; one sister: Daphne Cornelius (Joel) of Newnan, GA; five grandchildren: Makayla, Madison, Kilie, Riley, and Eli.
Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his father: W. Horace Adams and one baby brother.
Funeral services will be Saturday, January 28, 2017, at 2:00 pm at the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Webb and Mr. Leslie Boles officiating. Burial will be in the Lavonia City Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening. The family is at the home.
