She was a prominent writer, having contributed hundreds of stories, poems and miscellaneous articles to leading magazines and newspapers.
As a young girl, the family moved to Keokuk, Iowa, where she developed the talent for writing.
He mother, Mrs Mary R Hall, was one of the pioneer western writers, especially in temperance subjects.
While in Iowa, she married Dr Charles H Winslow, who died in New Rochelle 4 yrs ago.
