Rev. Sidney P. Hall, who served as a priest of the Diocese of Sacramento, was 85. He was ordained on May 11, 1957, after completing studies for the priesthood at St. Patrick's Seminary in Menlo Park. He served as pastor of St. Peter Parish in Sacramento from 1994 to 2002, of St. Paul Parish in Knights Landing from 1973 to 1978, and of St. Christopher Parish in Galt from 1982 to 1986. He also served as associate pastor at the Cathedral, St. Peter Parish and St. Patrick Parish in Placerville. He served in the diocese's Hispanic Apostolate and was involved in Cursillo and Marriage Encounter. He retired from active ministry in 2002.
Father Hall was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Mary Hall; sister Patricia Swars; sister-in-law Gail Ann Hall; niece Lynne Swars; and nephew Gregg Swars. He is survived by brothers John (Liane), David (Diana) and Jerome (Joan); sister Rosemary Ridge (Brian); and numerous nephews, nieces and god-children.
Bishop Jaime Soto presided at a funeral Mass on Monday, Sept. 19th, in the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament in Sacramento. Burial followed at St. Mary's Cemetery.
