Carrie Lou (Benson) Sanders was born February 1, 1932, in Augusta, Georgia to Freddie Vincent Blocker and Alberta B. Benson. At age 84, she departed this life Sunday, January 22, 2017, in Dayton, Ohio.

Carrie attended Charles T. Walker School, Augusta, Georgia and married Mr. John W. Sanders, Sr. in 1952 where eight wonderful children were born into this loving family.

She worked for several years as a medical assistant. She worked at Charles Drew Health Center, Good Samaritan Hospital, and for Dr. Gaston Bouquet in Downtown Dayton.

Carrie was a faithful member of Mt. Enon Baptist Church, attending as long as her health permitted. She was very dedicated to family and was the glue that held the family together. She cherished her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She loved to shop, being a sharp dresser, and trying to make a difference in each life she touched. She had many family friends who were very close to her, and she changed the lives of many just with her kindness and open heart.

Preceded in death by husband, John W. Sanders, Sr.; parents, Alberta Benson, Freddie Blocker; grandsons, Antuan and Jamez Hall; and son-in-law, Johnnie Wilder.

Carrie leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Timothy (Michelle) Hall of Dayton, John W. Sanders, Jr. of Cincinnati, Charles (Cynthia) and Reginald Sanders, both of Dayton; daughters, Rosalyn Wilder, Gwendolyn Stewart, Cheutaunia Carter, Carletta (Charles) Epps, all of Dayton; sister, Ms. Frances McKie of Augusta, Georguia; brother, Bernard (Linda) Benson of Stone Mountain, Georgia; granddaughters, Carla (Reggie) Hawkins, Charisse (James) Robinson, Emerald, Sierra and Jamie Hall, Tavaunia Carter and Ayonna Sanders, all of Dayton; grandsons, Timothy (Jamie) Hall, Louis Leslie and DeVaughn Carter, Charles Jr., John W. III and JuJuan Sanders, Allen L. II and Brandon Moore, Reginald, Ryan, Darius and Jaylan Sanders, Harvey and Deon Stewart; special friend, Mrs. Mary Scott; a host of great grandchildren, other close relatives and friends.
