Joe was born in Mobile, AL on February 5, 1933 and passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2017. He was a 1957 graduate of the College of Pharmacy, University of Florida. Joe practiced pharmacy in Pensacola for over 50 years and owned Dewberry-Pace Pharmacy, now Jackson-Pace Pharmacy. Midway through his career he returned to college and earned a MBA from University of West Florida and an EdD from Nova Southeastern University. He was also a graduate of the Air Force Air War College. He retired as a Colonel in the Air Force Reserve and was a recipient of the Legion of Merit.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, JoAnn (McKinney) Pace; two children, Jan (Dr. Joe) LaMotte of Salisburg, NC and Ben (Dee) Pace of Fairhope, AL and his brother, Jim Pace. They have four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He is preceded by his brother, Capt. Bill Pace.
Joe was a member of First Baptist Church, Pensacola for over 55 years. He enjoyed golfing with his buddies and working in his woodworking shop. Joe was a member of Kiwanis International for over 30 years.
Visitation will be at 9:45am Monday, January 30, 2017 with the Funeral service following at 10:45am at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Dr. Barry Howard, Sr. Pastor, First Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be at Barrancas National Cemetery with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to be made to the Pensacola Kiwanis Club or to the ASPCA.
