Louise Eileen Evans, age 76, of Leon, Iowa, the daughter of Cecil Samuel and Janet Louise (Palmer) Goodman, was born January 8, 1941, at Marshalltown, Iowa. She died at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa on Sunday, January 22, 2017.
Louise grew up in Leon, Iowa, attending country school and graduating from Leon High School in 1959. She then worked at Meredith Publishing in Des Moines, Iowa. On November 18, 1962, she married Billie Dean Evans. They lived in Ringgold County, Iowa for a short time before settling on their current Decatur County farm south of Leon, where she was a wife, mother, and homemaker to their two sons, Gary and Larry.
In earlier years, Louise and Bill enjoyed listening to music and dancing. In her free time, Louise was a Bridge and Pitch player, enjoyed working jigsaw and crossword puzzles, and watching game shows on television. She always liked having dogs and cats around the farm.
On April 13, 1952, Louise was baptized into the First Presbyterian Church in Leon and is a current member.
Her parents preceded her in death. Survivors include her husband, Bill Evans of Leon; sons, Gary “Bull” Evans of Leon and Larry Evans of Lamoni, Iowa; sister, Janiece Read and husband, Ronald, of Malcom, Iowa; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at the Slade – O’Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 28, 2017, with Rev. Jack DePond officiating. Burial will be in the Leon Cemetery, Leon, Iowa.
