Katherine Eckhardt Adams died Thursday (Jan. 18, 2007,) at the Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook at the age of 95.

She was born March 17, 1911, at Frank Russia to Jacob and Katarine (Schreiner) Eckhardt. She came to America in October 1912, and arrived in McCook in 1913. In 1926, she moved with her family to Culbertson.

She was baptized in the Lutheran Church in Frank, Russia; confirmed in the Westside Congregational Church in McCook, on March 28, 1926. She received her schooling in McCook.

She married Edward Jacob Adams on June 3, 1928, at Oberlin. They lived and farmed at Culbertson. She was a homemaker. She belonged to several clubs and was very active in the Ladies Aide of St. John's Lutheran Church. She has been a member of St. John's Lutheran Church at Culbertson since 1932.

She moved to McCook in October of 1997. She loved her family and grandchildren, enjoyed traveling and playing cards and games with her family and friends.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Edward J. Adams in September 1978; her parents; stepmother, Katie Heinbigner Eckhardt; infant twin sister, Lydia; infant sisters, Elsie and Heneritta; an infant brother, Conrad Eckhardt; sisters, Natalie Kern, Elizabeth Hidy, Esther Sinner; and brothers Jake Eckhardt, George Eckhardt, John Eckhardt, Reinhold Eckhardt and Jake Heinbigner.

Survivors include her daughter, Kathleen J. and husband Ebner Krumme of Fairbury, Neb.; son, Dale Adams and wife Clara of McCook; three grandchildren; Jeffery Dale Adams and wife, Susan of Lincoln, Neb., Douglas Ray Adams and wife, Pamela of Keller, Texas, and Allan Dean Krumme of Kearney, Neb; five great-grandchildren; Timoree Adams of Lincoln; Hilary Adams Everett and husband, Josh of Bennet, Neb., and Mallory Adams of Kearney, Neb., Wesley Alan Adams of Elk River Minn., and Joslyn Rae Adams of Keller, Texas; one great-great grandchild, Cain Jeffery Everett; sisters, Darlene Leibbrandt and husband, Dale of Danbury, Neb., Marion Roach of Littleton, Colo.; brother Dave Eckhardt and wife Florence of Cedar City, Utah; and many nieces, nephews and friends..

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 22, 2007, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Culbertson with the Rev. Brad Rick officiating, Interment will be in the Culbertson Cemetery at Culbertson.

Memorials may be given in her name and friends may call at Herrmann Funeral Home in McCook from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. and Sunday from 1-6 p.m.
