HARTSELLE — Funeral for Peggy Louise Nelson Payne, 73, of Hartselle will be Thursday, Jan. 26, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Brad Eades officiating. Burial will be in Johnson Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Payne died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2017 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. She was born June 5, 1943, in Morgan County to Charlie Judson Nelson and Essie Lois Nelson. Mrs. Payne was the co-owner, along with her husband Gerald, of Gerald’s Family Restaurant for 33 years. She loved to garden, cook and spend time with her family and friends. She was a graduate of Speake High School. Preceding her in death were her parents, and her brother, Dorvan Nelson.

Survivors include her husband, Gerald Payne; two daughters, Vicki Payne Stephenson and Nikki Payne Tallent; one brother, Larry Nelson (Carolyn); two sisters, Maxine Hembree and Susie Fisher (Danny); four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be nephews.
