Born December 27, 1937, in Burnettsville, she was the daughter of Samuel and Frances Sauers Sands.
On February 22, 1958, in Burnettsville, she was married to Robert "Dean" Chamberlain, who survives.
Mrs. Chamberlain had been employed at NIPSCO.
She had been active in Dykeman Ladies Golf Association in Logansport and Myakka 18-Hole Ladies Golf Association in Florida. Ellen was a member and Deaconess at McNeeley Christian Church and a member of McNeeley Women's Fellowship.
Ellen enjoyed her family and friends and was known for her baking. She delivered many platters of goodies to family and friends. She was an avid golfer and had four holes-in-one in her lifetime. Ellen (and Dean) enjoyed the winters in Florida and she was very involved with her home, The Lazy River Park and her golf club, Myakka Pines.
Surviving are a daughter, Laura (Matt) Cain, Walton; brothers, Ben (Sue) Sands, Carmel, and Tony Sands; Logansport; sisters, Geraldine (Wayne) Landes, Logansport, Roberta Bowyer, Logansport, Clara (Jim) Humphrey, Lafayette, Jo (Jim) DeHaven, Logansport, and Peg (Ed) Unger, Fulton; one granddaughter, Ellie Cain; and a sister-in-law, Betty (Gene) Rockhill, Monticello.
Two brothers, Robert Sands and Richard Sands, and a sister-in-law, Mary Jo Rendleman, preceded her in death.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 31, 2013, from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kroeger Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 1, 2013, at Kroeger Funeral Home, with Rev. Elwood Neu officiating.
Interment will be in Davis Cemetery at a later date.
